Kanye West Called Out By Fela Kuti’s Son For Disrespecting His Father’s Spirit

Spirits aren’t to be taken lightly.

Kanye West’s trip to Africa has been controversial. His meeting with the Ugandan president was one of the most upsetting events. Another notable moment that was documented came in the form of a selfie video in which Kanye spoke out against mind control. Ye comes off as mentally ill to some while others think he’s a “woke” visionary. One person who doesn’t seem to give him much positive credit is Seun Kuti, the son of the iconic musician Fela Kuti.

The African music luminary’s disapproval came stems from a comment Yeezy made in a clip he recorded of himself. He essentially stated that he channels great musicians from the astral plane when he records.

“The music is the best on the planet. I am the best living recording artist. We, rather, because the spirits flow through me. The spirit of Fela, the spirit of Marley, the spirit of Pac.”

Seun Kuti reposted this specific part of the rapper’s video and rebuked his statement.

“Erm erm on behalf of the Kuti family, I want to state that the spirit of Olufela Anikulapo Kuti isn’t anywhere near Kanye West.”

Then, his caption passes the mic onto Ziggy Marley who is tagged in encouragement to do the same.
