Although the star is doing very well for herself, and making the whole country proud, her international achievements haven’t made it easy for her as an actress.
In an interview on Afternoon Express a few months ago, she said: “For me, personally, just from my experience, I think our industry doesn’t want, doesn’t allow for people to grow. It’s like, uhm… after the [first] nomination, I remember I had a sit-down meeting with one of the, a couple of producers and they were like ‘ah, we should have tried to get you before the nomination because now you’re too expensive’. That time we hadn’t even discussed contracts,” she said.
Thuso added: “But then also it’s like, ‘we wanna show you that you’re not better than us’. That’s been my experience…”
